Frequently Asked Questions
The suitability of the roof tent for your vehicle depends on a number of factors such as the weight of the roof tent, your vehicle's dynamic roof load capacity, a roof rack system that is compatible with your vehicle and permits a roof tent on top of it.
Vehicles with a weight of over 70kg are suited to larger vehicles such as SUVs, 4x4 vehicles, pick up trucks and vans. Hard-shell roof tents due to their heavier weight are more suitable for larger vehicles. Soft-shell and hybrid roof tents are more suitable for small and medium sized cars.
To check your roof load capacity for your vehicle you will find it in two places:
- The vehicle user manual
- The weight limit plate sticker on the door of the driver’s seat.
The owner’s manual provides a detailed account of the gross vehicle mass, the roof load, and the gross combined weight. If you do not have your car’s manual, you can easily find it on the brand’s website or download it as a document on your device. For the weight limit plate sticker some car manufacturers place this on the back of the car too.
