The outer shell of the TentBox Cargo 2.0 is constructed with a steel-reinforced honeycomb-aluminium base and roof panels, framed in an aluminum exoskeleton with stainless steel hardware.
With steel reinforcement; steel is added to further strengthen the aluminium panels. Steel is much stronger than aluminium but heavier. By reinforcing the honeycomb aluminium with steel, the structure gains additional load-bearing capacity and impact resistance without significantly increasing weight.
The TentBox Cargo 2.0 fabric pod is rated to 3,000mm Hydrostatic Head Rating. A 3,000mm Hydrostatic Head Rating indicates the height of a column of water exceeds 3,000mm before it starts to leak. The fabric is treated with Durable Water Repellent (DWR) Treatment. DWR is a chemical treatment applied to the outer surface of the fabric to make it water-resistant as it causes water to bead up and roll off the fabric. The Cargo 2.0 is equipped with waterproof YKK zips and waterproof, silicone taped seams.
