The main pod material is made of 280gsm rip stop polyester canvas with a PVC-backed cordura trim. Grams per square meter (gsm) is a measurement of the fabric's weight and density. Rip-stop is a fabric weave technique that involves interweaving thicker threads at regular intervals in a crosshatch pattern. This design helps to prevent small tears and rips in the fabric from spreading, enhancing the durability of the material. Polyester is a type of synthetic fiber known for its strength, durability, and resistance to stretching and shrinking. UV50+ Protection is applied to the polyester canvas material to reduce the sun's UV radiation to pass through. The canvas is treated with C6 Durable Water Repellent (DWR water-repellency) a chemical treatment applied to the outer surface of the fabric to increase water-resistance. It causes water to bead up and roll off the fabric instead of soaking in. PVC-backed Cordura trim refers to a specific type of fabric trim that combines the durability of Cordura with the waterproofing and structural benefits of a PVC (polyvinyl chloride) backing.
